In-class assignments and class updates trump published blogs.

*POTENTIAL, ACHIEVEMENT, THOUGHT, HONOR

This week's study of the Sojourner Truth "Ain't I A Woman" speech will require that students complete an online essay at gomyaccess.com by Friday. This persuasive essay should address the prompt available online. A Cornell Notes quiz is scheduled for this week and students will be given time to study their notes to prepare. Unit III Vocabulary Workshop answers are due on Thursday, and the English Workshop grammar textbook is due in class on Wednesday for a grammar lesson. Elements of Literature, 4th Course books are used on Mondays and Tuesdays and students should be reading the short story "The Bet," and beginning to answer questions posed when Homework One was downloaded earlier in the semester. The next set of literary terms will be assigned as well, with a quiz scheduled either later this week or early next week. Chapters Six-Ten of Catcher in the Rye talking points are due on Friday for our weekly class discussion. Remember to write five talking points per chapter for this week. The "Say-Mean-Matter" graphic organizer will be used in class this week as an additional resource to prepare for the upcoming essay and the Secondary Periodic Assessment-Persuasion unit--Period Five will visit the Vantage Writing Lab on Wednesday to work on the essay but is still responsible for bringing the English Workshop text to class for a grammar lesson. The Clinton and Chavez speeches will be assigned soon and multiple-choice practice for the assessment continues in class. "The Cold Equations" changing the ending assignment has been scored and will be returned to students.
