STUDYPATH* December 7-11, 2009

In-class assignments and class updates trump published blogs.

*POTENTIAL, ACHIEVEMENT, THOUGHT, HONOR

Literary terms from the anthology will be reviewed today in class with the test scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday. Anthologies should be brought to class on Monday.

Fahrenheit 451 essay prompt will be presented to students so they may prewrite the essay; prewrites are due on Wednesday and the essay due date is Monday, December 14. Twenty-five talking points for Part Three "Burning Bright" are due on Friday for our usual class discussion. The discussion of Part Two was not completed by either class on Friday so books are due in class today for completion of the talking points' class discussion.

F451 vocabulary (ten words) will be reviewed in class on Friday with a quiz set: additional vocabulary for F451 will be assigned in class.

Grammar lessons this week include subordinate clauses assignments, with some work being done in class and some assigned as homework. English Workshop is not due this week in class; instead we will use the Holt Grammar Handbook which is a class set.

Cisneros' "Straw Into Gold" and Alexie's "Superman and Me" are both scheduled for in-class work as the Expository Secondary Periodic Assessment continues. Some multiple-choice practice will be completed in class to prepare for the next assessment.
